The Academic system

Academic institutions function differently from universities in the United States. The specifics vary from one institution to another. You may encounter differences in things like how Add/Drop works, how assignments graded and weighted, how professors interact with students, how placement tests work, how tests are weighted in the final grade, etc.  We've provided information below to help to get students prepare for the different academic experiences they will have on CIS Abroad's programs.

Sogang University

img_mission_01Sogang University hosts the greatest minds throughout Korea and the world, accepting students from the top of their classes to attend the liberal arts university. This small university boasts a tight-knit community that brings together its diverse student body. The location of the university allows for easy and fast transportation to many areas of Seoul. After classes, students can go to Gonzaga Plaza to grab a quick meal, head to the gym or activity fields for a workout, or head to the campus library.

Registration

Semester Students

Each term registration will open approximately one month before the program start date. You will receive more information about the exact date via email, including directions for the online registration.

Once onsite, you will have approximately two weeks to make changes to your schedule during the add/drop period.

Summer Students

Your program enrollment coordinator will register you for your summer courses at Sogang University. Please be sure to get multiple courses approved ahead of time and submit those via the Course Selection form on your CIS Abroad portal.

Transcripts

At the end of your program abroad, Sogang University will issue your transcripts. These records take approximately 6-8 weeks to process, and digital copies will be emailed to CIS abroad when they are released. Following this, hard copies of the transcripts will be mailed to CIS Abroad and then forwarded on to your home university.

Please note: if any students have a personal balance or outstanding Financial Aid balance on their invoice, transcripts will be held until the outstanding balance is settled.
