Arrivals
Airport Pick Up
What To Expect
Airport pickup is included with your program, as long as you arrive within your designated arrival window. Once you step off the airplane, follow the signs to go through customs and baggage claim. We will be shuttling students from the airport at 4 pm on the arrival day.
Your Site Director will be waiting for you at the Meeting Point in Terminal 2 Gate A near the Starbucks.
Flight Delays or Cancellations
If your flight is delayed more than 1 hour, please contact Tatum via phone (+82- 010-5862-9707)or Kakao Talk (ID: TatumRae). If a student doesn’t show up until after the designated time without any phone calls, then the group will leave since other students cannot wait any longer, and you may need to find your own transportation (outlined below).
Lost Baggage
If your bags decide to take a later flight, don’t panic. If the airline loses your luggage you must file a report with the airline while you are still in the baggage area. It is much more difficult to file this report once you’ve left the baggage claim area. The information you will need to provide on that form includes the following:
- NAME (you can give your name)
- PHONE # (give the site director)
- ADDRESS (give the address of where you are staying, or Gonzaga Hall if you will be going straight to the dormitory)
In the comments you can request delivery from 9am-5pm. Have your bag sent to your residence and make sure to let the front desk know that they will be delivering it during the day. If it is being sent to Gonzaga, they will leave it in the lobby in the package delivery area.
The airline baggage claim service will usually give you a website and a code where you can track your misplaced bag if you want updates.
How To Get To The City From The Airport
By Airport Limousine Bus
The limousine bus, numbered 6002, will take you to Sinchon Station. It will take about 50 minutes to get to Sinchon by the limousine bus. The fare for the limousine is about KRW 10,000 (about USD 8). Sogang University is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the station. If you have luggage, it is recommended to take a taxi from Sinchon station to Gonzaga Hall. You may tell the taxi driver to drop you off at the rear gate (후문, pronounced "hoo-moon") of Sogang University or you can say Gonzaga Hall (서강 곤자가 국제학사, Sogang Gonjaga Gukje Haksa). Gonzaga Dormitory is right next to the rear gate.

By Airport Train (AREX)
Another way to get to Sogang University is to take the airport train AREX to Hongik University or Gong Deok Station. It takes about 40 to 50 minutes and costs about KRW 9,500. From Hongik University or Gong Deok Station, take a taxi and ask the taxi driver to drop you off at the rear gate of Sogang University. It takes 10 to 15 minutes depending on the traffic conditions and costs about KRW 4,000 to 5,000. (The closer station to Sogang University would be Gong Deok Station.)
By Taxi
You may also take a taxi on the first floor of the airport at the passenger terminal between platform "4C" and "8C" (Terminal 1), “1C” and “5D” (Terminal 2). Go to the taxi stand and wait in line in the "Seoul" section for taxis going to Seoul.
There are three kinds of taxis: Standard, Deluxe and Jumbo (up to 9 passengers). A Standard taxi will cost at least KRW 60,000 (about USD 55-60), while the fare of the Deluxe or Jumbo Cab costs much more. In addition to the above fare, you must pay the toll fee of about KRW 7,100. Make sure to carry enough Korean currency with you because taxi fares may vary depending on the traffic conditions and not all taxis take credit cards.
Early Arrivals
If you arrive before your program start date, you are responsible for yourself until the day the program begins. This includes your transportation, housing, meals, and safety. Don't worry, many students choose this option, and exploring the city for a day or two on your own can be a fun way to start your program and beat the jet lag before things start! Your Site Director will communicate to you about meeting at Gonzaga and checking in to the dormitory.
